We have 3 group exercise studios.  We offer a wide variety of classes for you to choose from, along with many time options to fit most everyone's schedules.  Over 75 classes each week which includes our aquatic classes.  We pride ourselves on teaching to all fitness levels in all the classes we offer, as to make sure every student feel welcomed and accomplished.

Aquatics

Whether you are a serious swimmer or looking for a non-impact workout, we have the pool for you.  Our dedicated lap pool is of a unique design to increase your swimming proficiency.  Our family and recreational pool is where we host a number of different water classes.  From Aqua Zumba to Water Boot Camps, we have a class to meet your needs.  Our third pool is specifically designed for therapy but can be used by anyone.

Personal Training

Improve your results with personal training.  You will reach your goals quickly and safely!  Regular one-on-one training is designed to get you to your goals, and teach you professional technique and use of the equipment.  Additional benefits include:

    Know your way around the gym, basic terminology, seat positioning, and the fundamentals of property form, with guidance from a personal trainer.  These are necessities when starting or continuing a fitness program.  Even your top level athletes must continue to use the basics of exercise...we'll teach them to you!

The purpose of the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program is to educate and encourage people to think and act safely in, on, and around the water. The Swimming and Water Safety programAmerican Red Cross.  helps people of all ages enjoy the water safely and act effectively in an emergency situation. The program covers skills and knowledge in a progression for aquatic skill development. As participants develop these skills, they will become safer and better swimmers. Capital City Health Club is an American Red Cross Authorized Provider, and our swimming lessons instructors are certified by Red Cross as Water Safety Instructors (WSI).

Capital City Health Club offers year-round swimming lessons for children and adults—available as group or private lessons. Our staff of Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors teach from the following American Red Cross swimming and water safety courses:

  • Parent & Child Aquatics (Infant & Toddler)
  • Learn-to-Swim (Preschool through Level 6)
  • Adult Aquatics

Group Swimming Lessons

At CCHC, group lessons are offered each month (primarily on weekends) at varying scheduled times throughout the year. Lessons are provided in three 40-minute lessons or four 30-minute lessons for a total of two hours (120 minutes) of instruction. Additional group lesson sessions may be offered depending on instructor scheduling and pool availability.

Group lesson session announcements are distributed by e-mail to interested families. An e-mail notification is sent out about once a month when sign-ups are made available for the next session. E-mails include information about which lesson levels are offered during that session and the scheduled times/duration. Most levels are offered every other month.

Once group lesson sessions are announced, registration is completed in person at the CCHC front desk. Payment by cash, check, or gift card (or a credit card on file for CCHC members) is required at the time of registration. Group lesson registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. CCHC members and non-members both may register for group swimming lessons according to the current rate schedule:

Private Swimming Lessons

Private lesson session announcements are distributed by e-mail to interested families and individuals. An e-mail notification is sent out about once a month when sign-ups are made available for the next session. E-mails include information about when private lessons are offered during that session and the scheduled times/duration. CCHC members and non-members both may register for private swimming lessons.

To subscribe to our Private Lessons mailing list and receive sign-up information, please send an e-mail to the Aquatics Director at the address located on the back of this brochure with a request to be added to the list. Please direct any questions to the Aquatics Director at this e-mail address as well.

Private lessons are offered in a pre-paid package for one hour (60 minutes) of instruction divided into two 30-minute sessions or three 20-minute sessions based on the rate schedule below. Payment by cash, check, or gift card (or a credit card on file for CCHC members) is required prior to the first lesson.

Available Classes

Parent & Child (Infant) Aquatics (AGE: 6 – 24 MOS.)
Parent & Child (Toddler) Aquatics (AGE: 2 – 3 YRS.)
This class introduces basic skills including adjusting to the water environment, showing comfort while maintaining a front or back position, blowing bubbles, and submerging under water. 
NOTE: A responsible adult is required to be in the water for each child enrolled
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills (AGE: 4+ YRS.) 
This class orients participants to the aquatic environment, introduces basic aquatic skills, and develops positive attitudes and safe practices around water. 
NOTE: 3 year-olds able to follow classroom-style instructions may enroll with approval

Level 2A: Fundamental Aquatics Skills 
Students must already demonstrate the following skills to enroll: 
• Jump in the water and fully submerge body and head
• Float supported on front AND float supported on back
• Front glide supported AND back glide supported 2 body lengths

Level 2B: Fundamental Aquatics Skills (cont.) 
Students must already demonstrate the following skills to enroll: • Perform 5 bobs (voluntarily fully submerge body and head) 
• Float unsupported on front with face in the water (5 seconds) 
• Float unsupported on back (5 seconds)
• Swim elementary back stroke and/or crawl stroke unsupported
• Flutter kick on back and front three body lengths unsupported
Level 3: Stroke Development 
Students must already demonstrate the following skills to enroll: 
• Tread water (15 seconds)
• Perform 10 bobs (voluntarily fully submerge body and head)
• Swim crawl stroke unsupported (15 yards)
• Swim elementary backstroke unsupported (15 yards)
• Back float unsupported (15 seconds)

Level 4: Stroke Improvement
Students must already demonstrate the following skills to enroll:
• Swim 15 yards using front stroke AND elementary backstroke
• Back float unsupported (60 seconds)
• Demonstrate flutter, breaststroke, scissor, and dolphin kicks
• Demonstrate rotary breathing techniques
• Tread water for 60 seconds, immediately followed by 25 yards of front crawl stroke or elementary backstroke

Level 5 & 6: Stroke Refinement | Adult Aquatics

Kids Club

We believe the CCHC Kid's Club is one of the best child care facilities available in town.  We present a clean and bright cheerful atmosphere where children can engage in a variety of activities.  We have floor to ceiling length windows with a 1500 square foot room!  We also have dedicated classes just for the little ones to introduce fitness into their lives early!

The CCHC Kid's Club is designed to meet the special needs of infant to school age children, in a safe and nurturing environment.  Our goal is to strengthen the bridge between your family and fitness by creating a special place that supports them both.  Please click here for more information.

24HR Access

CCHC offers a fully equipped 24-Hour Access Facility. With cardio and strength training machines as well as a Cross Training area with a speed bag, heavy bag, battle ropes, TRX straps, and a 40-yard sprint track with turf. This area is open to members during regular business hours with options to add 24-hour access to your membership.

Locker Rooms

You'll find our locker rooms to be spacious, clean, and relaxing. Each is equipped with a dry sauna, steam room, lounge area and separate areas for showers, restrooms, vanities and plenty of lockers to accommodate your day at CCHC

Family Changing Areas

CCHC is equipped with 4 private Family Changing Rooms in addition to our locker rooms. These are great to get the whole family ready in one location, with direct access to our pools. Our Family Changing Rooms are all handicap accessible, and equipped with all the essential needs.
